Welcome to the protected fungal species of Serbia website.
It is our goal to present those species of fungi that have been listed as protected and strictly protected species under the current legislative of the Republic of Serbia. Since the Serbian National Strategy for the preservation of biodiversity was evaluated to be one of the best in the world, according to the International Society for Fungal Conservation, we are confident that this abundance of rare fungal species in Serbia can be preserved, if this strategy is thoroughly practiced.
Photographs on this site are taken from the Fungi of the Balkans by Branislav Uzelac. This book will be available in English, and it will include species from all over the Balkan peninsula.
