Boletus pinophillus Pilát & Dermek

Fruit body: cap up to 20 cm, fleshy, rounded then expanded, velvety, in shades of brown-red. Tubes and pores are first whitish, then greenish-yellow. Stem is up to 15x10 cm, robust, brighter than cap, with distinct white reticulum, especially in upper 2/3.

Microscopy: spores subfusiform, 14-19.5x4-6 μm, yellow individually, brown-olive en masse.

Flesh: hard, whitish, pinkish under cap skin, unchanging, mild smell and taste.

Habitat: most often in association with pine (Pinus), but can be found in pure deciduous woods.

Edibility: edible, priced, commercially exploited.
